Why Support This Cause?
Every day in Morocco more than 80 children under the age of 5 die, mostly of preventable causes and 4 women die from complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
UNICEF is working in a number of areas in Morocco to protect child rights. One such right is the right to experience a childhood, one where they are cared for and safe. However, for many children in Morocco this is not a reality because they are either forced into child labour, are sexually exploited or suffer violence in schools. Your financial support will help UNICEF to provide:
- Community based maternal waiting houses that provide a safe haven for expectant mothers after childbirth. This ensures better access to urgent health care and reduces mortality rates
- Healthcare and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls and protection from violence and exploitation
UNICEF receives no money from the UN instead it relies entirely on Voluntary donations from individuals, governments, institutions and corporations.
